Haiku Critic (“we”, “us”, “our”) — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1st December,2025.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Haiku Critic. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when and with whom we may share it, how long we retain it, and your rights with respect to your data.

2. What data we collect

Depending on how you use the app/website, we may collect:

  • Contact information you provide voluntarily (e.g., email address if you contact us via “we@thehaikucritic.com”).
  • Any content you submit through the app (e.g., haiku poems, reviews, textual content).
  • Device-related or usage data, if the app collects telemetry (e.g., crash reports, usage statistics, device identifiers, IP address) — only if such data collection is implemented.
  • Analytics data (if you opted in), including usage patterns, to help us improve the app.
  • Any other personal data you explicitly provide (if applicable).

If no data collection happens (for example, if you use the app anonymously and do not submit content), the only data would be minimal or none — in that case we will say so.

3. How we use your data

We may use your data for the following purposes:

  • To enable the core functionality of the app (submitting, storing, and displaying haiku poems or reviews).
  • To provide support or respond to your requests (e.g., communications via email).
  • To analyze and improve our app (metrics, crash logs, usage analytics, performance).
  • To communicate with you (e.g., updates, announcements), only if you consent or if you contact us.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We will not use your data for purposes other than those disclosed here without obtaining your explicit consent (unless required by law).

4. Sharing your data / Third parties

We will not share your personal data with third parties — except in the following limited cases:

  • Service providers or partners who help operate the app (e.g. analytics, hosting, infrastructure), but only if they agree to protect your data under at least the same privacy standards.
  • If required by law, or to respond to lawful requests by public authorities.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers, marketers, or other third parties.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain the data as long as necessary to provide the app’s functionality and services, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

If you want to request deletion of your personal data, or revoke consent, you may contact us at we@thehaikucritic.com. Once we receive and verify a valid request we will delete your data, subject to retention for legal compliance if applicable.

6. Children’s privacy

Our app is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we collected data from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that data immediately.

7. Contact / Privacy Point of Contact

For any privacy-related questions, data access requests, or deletion requests, you may reach us at: we@thehaikucritic.com

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy periodically (e.g., when we add new features, change data practices, or to comply with regulations). In that case we will revise the “Last updated” date, and if changes are material we will post a notice on the website or within the app.
